We’ve recently seen reports of an increase in fraudsters sending fake emails to consumers. These emails claim that a County Court Judgment (CCJ) has been registered against you and that you must pay money directly to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
⚠️ Be aware:
Do not click on any links in the email and do not reply.
The FCA does not collect CCJ payments and the FCA will never ask you to transfer money.
If you are unsure or suspect fraud, you can contact the FCA directly on 0800 111 6768 to check.
One of the scams we see time and again is fraudsters pretending to be from the county courts. If you get a call from someone claiming to be from the county court and demanding payment of a CCJ over the phone to stop the bailiffs coming out, remember:
⚠️ County courts do not collect payments for CCJs and will never ask you to transfer money over the phone.
If you’re concerned that you might genuinely have a CCJ for unpaid debt, you can check this safely through Trust Online.
Trust Online is the only official service that provides immediate access to the complete Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines. Searches cost between £5 and £10, depending on the information you need.
